Building to Grow the Church Groundbreaking!!

The Rev. Fran├žois Trottier, Peter Angell, Carl Turner, Nora Waddell, Bob Cleland, Wayne Kirby. Missing, Donna Wright.

Members of the "St. Barnabas Anglican Church Building Team" gathered after worship this past Sunday for a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Church Accessibility Project, "Building to Grow the Church.". The St. Barnabas community is embarking on a major building renovation which, among other things includes the addition of an elevator, new staircase, offices, and a main floor nursery.

The project has been in the planing stages for several years. Construction is expected to begin within the next few days. Parish leaders would like to alert St. Barnabas Anglican Church's immediate neighbors of the coming and going of large construction vehicles over the next several months. It is hoped that the construction will be completed by mid-December. Anyone interested in further details may call the church office at 613-584-4131.

St. Barnabas Anglican Church
Celebrates 50 Years!!

Our 50th anniversary of St. Barnabas will be celebrated on St. Barnabas Sunday and once again we are delighted to have our St. Barnabas Band lead the music for our worship service.   We are blessed to have many parishioners come together in this band to share their gift of music.  This year we have approximately 20 instrumentalists ranging from preteens to seniors - a wonderful intergenerational mix.

This initiative is taken on by Nick Brown, now a 2nd year university music student, who enthusiastically orchestrates the hymns from our hymn books for the many various instruments.  Nick approaches all the youth and adults in our parish who play an instrument and no instrument is a barrier to his orchestration.   Included are many of the typical band instruments but he also includes recorders, violins, guitars, and even a mandolin.  Thank you to Nick for arranging the music, scheduling the many rehearsals, and skilfully conducting this wonderful group of musicians.

"Everything Went!!!!!" (well, almost!)

Well, we did it!

The "Everything Goes" Garage Sale today was a HUGE success!!!!

We had hundreds of visitors, some whom had never been in our church before!!!!! They loved our "stuff", our funny hats, and the warm welcome they received when they came to shop for bargains.
The basement is all cleaned up, much of the leftovers were taken (or will be taken) to the Whistle Stop, recycling or Value Village, and the pile of trash out back is supposed to be taken by the town on Monday (I hope they don't mind the size of the pile!).

Many, many thanks to all of you, Phew!

Anyhow, a wonderful effort by a brilliant, fun and hard-working team.  We showed Deep River that we can have a blast, put on a great sale, and that our church community is a great family.

Morgan  and the Garage Sale Team!
